Professor Ana Catarina Nogueira da Silva

Ana Catarina Nogueira da Silva is a graduate of the Faculty of Dentistry
at the University of Porto. She has specialized in Laser Dentistry, earning both a
Mastership in Laser Dentistry and a Master of Science in Lasers in Dentistry from
the University of Aachen, as well as the EMDOLA (European Master Degree in
Oral Laser Applications). Following this, she completed her PhD at the University
of Porto, focusing on Laser Dentistry, and currently is a Professor in Operative
Dentistry at Faculty of Dental Medicine at the same University, while actively
conducting research in this field.

As the founder of Portugal’s first Institute of Laser Dentistry, Professor Ana
Catarina Silva is dedicated to providing comprehensive training in the discipline.
She has authored numerous articles and has been a keynote speaker at various
national and international congresses.
In addition, she serves as a member of the General Council of the Portuguese
Order of Dentists (Ordem dos Médicos Dentistas) and is the Portuguese
ambassador for the International Society for Laser Dentistry.
Notably, she was the Organizing Chairwoman of the 19th World Congress of the
International Society for Laser Dentistry, which took place in Porto, Portugal, in
2024.
